Take Me To Your Spot: Claire Banse @ Gjelina

The Drunken Canal co-founder turned actress takes us out for her preferred Sunday night meal

Claire Banse is best known as the co-founder and co-editrix of The Drunken Canal, a newspaper that—during its infamous two-year run—chronicled the exploits of Dimes Square habitués (we hear there’s a statue currently being chiseled outside Clandestino in her honor).

These days, now that she’s done publishing Dimes Square’s paper of record, Claire can be found starring in indie films set in NYC, the city she still calls home, and waitressing at Crevette, or moonlighting as the muse to many a downtown party photographer (as well as several fashion brands). When she’s not doing any of the above, you might bump into her at Gjelina, the Bond St. outpost of the acclaimed Venice Beach joint, whose seasonal menu and perfectly calibrated vibe make it the ideal spot for a blissful Sunday night meal to close out the weekend.

Tap in and pay at Gjelina with Blackbird, and ape Claire’s order below.
